Easter Fun: Babies & Toddlers

The unfortunate truth is that a lot of the more traditional Easter festivities are a little too advanced for babies and toddlers. After all, you wouldn’t want to give an infant some egg dye. Furthermore, a toddler and some egg dye is going to equal one ruined kitchen tablecloth and messy kitchen cleanup. However, there is nothing a parent wants more than for their child to experience their first Easter (and every Easter after that) to the fullest. It is not until around the age of two that it becomes easier for a parent to celebrate Easter traditions with their child.

Just because your child is too small for egg dye, it does not mean they cannot enjoy the pleasures of dying eggs. It can be aggravated and frustrating for children with small hands to try and dip the egg in various color dyes. Easy-to-hold markers and chubby crayons can work great in this scenario. It gives your toddler freer to decorate the hardboiled egg however they want. It may be a good idea to hold the egg for your child to make the task a little easier.

Something that might be a little more fun for your child than decorating the eggs with marker and crayons is finger painting the eggs. Every child enjoys playing with finger paint and there is nothing more exciting decorating an egg with finger paint. It is suggested that you predye the eggs to add some extra color because washable finger paint does not always create eggs that are as colorful as the child wants.

Spending a holiday with your baby or toddler is supposed to be a memorable time for both you and your child. This is why it is also a good idea to pop into an Easter event featuring an Easter bunny. There is nothing more memorable than being able to get a picture of your child taken with the Easter bunny. If you have a child who is afraid of the Easter bunny (because some children are afraid of things dressed up as mascots), you can try holding your child and standing next to the Easter bunny to get a picture.  From all of us at Baby’s Own Room, Happy Easter!
