A Barrel of Fun!

Posted by on Nov 7, 2012 in New Arrivals | Comments Off on A Barrel of Fun!

Say hello to Christopher Wayne.   This little guy was born 9/14/2012 and just barely over 6 pounds, Mama’s little monkey (as she calls him).  His father (an avid rock climber) hopes that Christopher will fall in love with the sport as he did.  He’s looking forward to climbing trips with his son, when he’s old enough and with mother’s permission of course.

I can just see him now scaling the walls of El Capitan, but for now he mostly sleeps in his mama’s warm arms or in his crib that is decked out Monkey style.  His mama choose the Monkey Collection crib bedding set and what a great choice – fits this little guys personality perfectly!  Stop by Baby’s Own Room and see what’s new!

Seeing Double – Hello Twins

Posted by on Oct 19, 2012 in New Arrivals | Comments Off on Seeing Double – Hello Twins

Say hello to America’s newest set of twins – Valentino and Kimora, born 8/10/2012.  I love twins, I find them absolutely fascinating and these two are perfectly adorable!  These special two enjoy the Oriental Garden baby bedding set their mom picked out especially for them and at a great price too only $134.99 – that’s a savings of over $100.00.

Here are 10 fun twin facts to ponder.
  1. 22% of twins are left handed.
  2. Rates of twin births vary by location. Massachusetts, New Jersey or Connecticut, the twinning rate is 25% higher than the general populace. Whereas Hawaii and New Mexico have a twin birth rate 30% lower than that of the national average.
  3. Nigeria has the highest rate of multiple births and more identical twins. More twins are born here than anywhere else in the world.
  4. China however has the lowest rate for multiple births averaging 1 in 300.
  5. There are 7 different types of twins. Identical, fraternal, (which most people are familiar with), half-identical, mirror image twins, mixed chromosome twins, superfecundation, and superfetation.
  6. Identical twins are the result of a random split of a single egg and cannot be genetically predisposed.
  7. 40% of twins develop their own language. It’s called idioglossia and occurs when one twin models the incorrect speech of the other, leading to both twins using the same grammatical or speech sound errors. It sounds like a foreign language, but is just a normal part of cognitive development.
  8. Male twins will not have twins unless their wives have the ability to produce two eggs.
  9. Twin fetuses start playing at 14 weeks. A team at the University of Padova, Italy, found that fetuses started deliberately interacting at 14 weeks by reaching out and touching each other through the uterine wall. By 18 weeks, they spent more time stroking each other than themselves, and were equally careful when touching their co-twin’s sensitive eye areas.
  10. The average birth weight for a twin is 5 lbs, 5 oz.
